Perth beats Sydney in ‘liveability’ report

If you’re thinking of migrating to Australia, you might be keen to know Perth has again ranked as the world’s seventh most liveable city, beating Sydney which came in at number 11.

The Economist’s ‘liveability’ report is a guide used by businesses to determine extra pay levels for skilled professionals who move abroad. Businesses use the guide to allocate a percentage to be paid on top of employee salaries for those who need to relocate to a city with a poor liveability ranking.

The report ranks the world’s cities according to “a rating of relative comfort for over 30 qualitative and quantitative factors across five broad categories: stability; healthcare; culture and environment; education; and infrastructure.

“Each factor in a city is rated as acceptable, tolerable, uncomfortable, undesirable or intolerable.”

With Perth coming in at number seven, it is certainly regarded as a highly ‘liveable’ destination for travelling employees. Perth scored a perfect 100 for healthcare, education and infrastructure and 95 for stability.

Of course, we think Perth’s beaches alone easily make the city one of the most liveable in the world! Get to know the city’s best beaches with our Perth beach guide.
