Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme changes

Since 2011, WA businesses have used the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) as a visa option to sponsor skilled overseas employees for work in Perth. However, the Federal Government is now deciding whether to exclude Perth from using the Scheme.

What this could mean for your business or as a skilled worker intending to work in Perth

If the change goes ahead, businesses may have one less visa option to sponsor employees for work in Perth. However, other work visa options will still be available for skilled overseas workers, such as subclass 457 visas, 186 visas and others.

Keeping you in the loop

While the Scheme is under review, the State Government has suspended applications for subclass 187 nominations.

The Migration Institute of WA is seeking further clarification from the State Government on the RSMS requirements.

We will keep you updated on how the decision unfolds, however if you have any queries in the meantime, or if you would like to understand the various visa options for your business needs, please contact us on 08 6263 4406 or hello@immigracious.com.au
