Graduate Occupation List – WA international graduates get a pathway to stay
WA recently introduced a Graduate Occupation List, which provides a direct pathway to permanent residence for WA international students studying a course that appears on the new list.

What to consider if your course is on the WA Graduate Occupation List
If your course appears on the Graduate Occupation List, you may be eligible to apply for the Graduate Stream pathway to Western Australian state nomination through either the Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated Visa or the Subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa.
The Subclass 190 Visa provides direct access to permanent residence and the Subclass 489 Visa offers a pathway to permanent residence. Both visa types do not require an employer to sponsor you, however you will need to meet several points tested requirements as part of the process.
In addition to your course being listed on the Graduate Occupation List, there are several other eligibility requirements which determine whether you can apply for the new permanent residence pathway. These factors include but are not limited to:
– Relevant work experience (this may be exempt in some cases)
– An offer of employment
– Sufficient funds
– An ability to meet the English language requirements

Am I eligible for permanent residence?
While it is great to hear the Government has decided to create a dedicated permanent residence pathway for WA graduates, it is important to remember the list may change from year to year.
